Started building the finger board extension. A little more shaping and I'll glue it to the body.

Also did more sanding on the curl.

Between going on vacation and other obligations, it's been a couple of weeks since I worked on the mandolin, but I'm back now!!

Spent all day scraping, filing and sanding!!

Trying to get the binding cleaned up and smooth with the wood. Hopefully I'll have everything nice and smooth in a couple more hours.

Most of the time today was spent cleaning up the inside of the curl!! Not a lot of room to work in there....

Last piece of binding installed!!!

The button was the final piece and of course I had to make 4 of them before it fit correctly!

 The next step after installing the binding is to scrape it smooth with the wood.

More working on the binding.

I think binding the curl on the back has been one of the hardest parts of building the mandolin! Things would just not line up!! But, finally....I got it!

Here's a shot of the back with all the binding installed except the button at the neck.

Today's goal was to install the binding on the back of the mandolin. After several hours of not being able to line things up, I decided to work on something else!

So...I installed the small ebony pieces where the neck joins with the body.

Also, I started the scraping of the binding on the front of the body.

Next time I'll try doing the binding on the back again. Hopefully it will go a little more smoothly!
